Intercultural learning

AMBS focuses on the knowledge and skills required to lead in interculturally complex ministry settings outside and within the church.

Activities during the introductory Leadership Education in Anabaptist Perspective (LEAP) course integrate contextual and cultural understandings within a biblical and theological framework of understanding.

All incoming students take the Intercultural Developmental Inventory (IDI) and use this information over the course of their studies to deepen their capacities for intercultural relationships.

The Intercultural Competence and Undoing Racism team at AMBS, consisting of administrators, teaching faculty, staff and students, assists our learning community in its strategic priority of building intercultural competence and undoing racism throughout the institution. Through structural, educational and relational endeavors, the ICUR team works to create space where all voices and experiences are valued.

In face-to-face or online courses, students and professors follow the conversation covenant that makes for respectful, forthright, and discerning discussion. Several professors utilize the wisdom of circle process during their class sessions.
