Journey: A Missional Leadership Development Program
A certificate program that develops leaders centered in Jesus Christ for ministries in local churches and communities
"The program is opening a new door for my life now. I kept thinking, 'Yes, God is calling me, but where am I going to start?' But now God is putting it all together. Journey is like a journey with God. It's not just a name; it's a real-life story for me." — Rebecca Riek (Journey student, 2017 to present)
God calls you to ministry and a Journey begins
If you’re on this journey, you no doubt have discovered its excitement and fulfillment. Have you also encountered its challenges and demands? Have you wished for mentors and companions?
In the Journey program, learners join with their mentor to explore spiritual leadership together in their own context. Whether you are an active member of a congregation, a pastor with or without a formal education, a church planter, or lay leader preparing for ministry in the church or community, Journey can support your growth.
Explore your call
Where are you going next on your journey? Are you paying attention to what the Spirit is saying to you and calling you to do for the next stage of your life? We invite you to consider this question.
Recently, Jewel Gingerich Longenecker, AMBS dean of lifelong learning, joined Ohio Conference podcast hosts Corben Weaver Boshart and Ramon Lianez to talk about her faith journey and the many ways people can pursue theological education through AMBS, especially through the Journey program. Listen to the podcast.
Learn in your own context
The Journey program is also distance-friendly, with different expectations for people from different geographic regions. You may not have to come to the Elkhart campus to participate.
While the content was created from a Mennonite or Anabaptist perspective, the Journey program is open to people of any denomination or no denomination and anyone from any tradition is welcome to apply.
