The AMBS Development Team has undergone some shifts in roles and responsibilities:

Tony Hartman, M.B.A., of Elkhart, Indiana, concluded his role as Advancement Associate in November 2020 after having served at AMBS since July 2016. In his role, Hartman built relationships with donors, congregations and conference leaders to cultivate support of AMBS and connections to seminary offerings. While serving at AMBS, he also completed a Master of Business Administration through Goshen (Indiana) College. He has moved into a sales position with a local company that works with heating, ventilation and air conditioning.
“Tony was able to connect well with individual donors and to communicate how AMBS was serving the church,” said Daniel Grimes, M.P.A., Vice President for Advancement and Enrollment. “His education in pastoral ministry and organizational management and his experience in education served him well in his role. We also appreciated how Tony applied current learnings from his collaborative M.B.A. program to his role.” -
Bob Yoder, D.Min., C.F.R.M., of Goshen, Indiana, who has served as an Advancement Associate since January 2018, began a new role with AMBS as Director of Development on Jan. 1. Yoder, who earned a Master of Divinity from AMBS in 2001, worked for 17 years in conference and college ministry with Indiana-Michigan Mennonite Conference, Central District Conference and Goshen (Indiana) College before returning to AMBS. In 2007, he earned a Doctor of Ministry from Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan, and in 2020, he completed a Certificate in Fund Raising Management at the Lilly School of Philanthropy of Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis.
“In his new role, Bob can more fully use his creative and organizational skills as he oversees operational and administrative responsibilities as well as the fundraising activities of each development associate,” reflected Grimes. “He also will have more opportunities to develop new ways of connecting with constituents.” -
Doug Amstutz, M.Div., of Kitchener, Ontario, began Jan. 1 as a half-time Development Associate for Canada. Amstutz, who has served as a pastor for 25 years, also will continue to pastor part time at Erie View Mennonite Church in Port Rowan, Ontario. A 1996 graduate of AMBS and an alum of Hesston (Kansas) College and Goshen (Indiana) College, he has been a service worker in Egypt with Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), and he and his wife, Wanda, were country representatives for Ethiopia with MCC. Amstutz also taught high school social studies at Sarasota (Florida) Christian School.
“We’re excited about Doug’s significant experience of serving in both international settings and pastoral ministry,” said Grimes. “His gifts in relating to people in varied cultural contexts will help him in deepening relationships with our Canadian constituents.” 
Randy Detweiler, M.Div., of Wakarusa, Indiana, began Feb. 1 as a full-time Development Associate. Detweiler, who will nurture relationships with donors, congregations and conferences in support of AMBS’s mission, has served as a pastor in three congregations over the last 30 years, most recently at Holdeman Mennonite Church in Wakarusa. He is a member of the board of Amigo Centre in Sturgis, Michigan, and also has served in jail ministry and in various leadership capacities with Indiana-Michigan Mennonite Conference, including as Moderator. In addition to being a 2007 AMBS graduate, Detweiler is an alum of both Hesston (Kansas) College and Goshen (Indiana) College.
“Randy brings extensive pastoral and leadership experience to his new role, having served in congregational, conference and organizational contexts ,” said Grimes. “We are grateful to have him join our Development Team.”
Continuing members of AMBS’s Development Team include Daniel Grimes; Aaron Yost, Data Services Manager; and Janeen Bertsche Johnson, M.Div., Development Associate (along with roles in campus ministry, admissions and alumni).
