The AMBS learning community bid farewell to Barb Gamble in February and welcomed Steve Norton to an additional role.

  • Barb Gamble, B.A., of Bristol, Indiana, retired from her part-time role as Assistant Director of Human Resources and Payroll in February 2021, after having served at AMBS since February 2008. In her role, Gamble oversaw all Human Resources activities for AMBS and assisted the Chief Financial Officer with payroll matters.
        “Barb was experienced and knowledgeable about all things HR,” said Ron Ringenberg, M.B.A., M.S., Vice President for Administration and Chief Financial Officer. “She brought warmth and compassion to her role, caring deeply about all the people with whom she worked. We will miss her outgoing, positive presence, her good humor and the joy she brought to our learning community.”

  • Steve Norton, B.S.W., of Goshen, Indiana, is taking on the part-time role of Assistant Director of Human Resources and Payroll in addition to his half-time role as Program Assistant for the Church Leadership Center’s Thriving in Ministry Grant, which he began in September 2020. A graduate of Goshen College, Norton spent 14 years in church planting in Germany and was co-pastor of Goshen City Church of the Brethren for eight years. He also helped establish and manage the Elkhart Rise ’n Roll Bakery before coming to AMBS.
        “Steve brings dedication, a mind for detail and a willingness to learn, in addition to his people skills,” said Ringenberg. “We are glad for him to be able to use his administrative and pastoral experience in both of his AMBS roles.”
