AMBS President Search Process

In December 2018, the AMBS Board of Directors appointed a committee to search for a new president for AMBS after Sara Wenger Shenk, Ed.D., announced her plans to retire on June 30, 2019, at the end of the 2018–19 academic year.

After gathering feedback from listening sessions and a stakeholder survey, the Presidential Search Committee developed a presidential profile in February to introduce the AMBS community to the prospective candidates and outline the desired skills, qualifications, and characteristics of the next president.

On June 10, 2019, the Presidential Search Committee announced David W. Boshart, Ph.D., as the candidate of choice for the position. Boshart visited the AMBS campus June 17–18 to participate in meetings with administrative and teaching faculty members, staff and students.

On Sept. 10, 2019, the AMBS Board of Directors announced the appointment of Boshart as the seminary's next president. Read more

The Presidential Search Committee, chaired by AMBS Board Member Miriam Book of Lititz, Pennsylvania, will hold its first meeting Dec. 18.
