Certificate programs

Two graduate certificate programs at AMBS are designed to provide professionals, congregational leaders and bivocational pastors with a foundation in theological and biblical study, spiritual enrichment and fuller integration of their Christian faith into their work and ministry.

Each certificate requires 27 credit hours. These certificates do not meet the gainful employment criteria set by the U.S. Department of Education.

  • Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies: Students can complete this certificate in one year with full-time study or over several years with part-time study. The certificate can be done fully online or with a combination of online, hybrid and on-campus courses.
  • Certificate in Christian Spiritual Formation: This certificate helps leaders develop knowledge and skills for nurturing Christian spiritual formation in the activities, practices and programs of congregational life. The courses in this program offer opportunities to engage in both academic and practical work. For this certificate, students take both on-campus and hybrid courses and study part time over several years, since required courses are not always offered in the same year.
