Spiritual Life

At Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary, nurturing our relationship with God is as important as challenging our minds. Resources are varied, so each person has opportunities to discover God in new ways and to strengthen familiar practices of faith.

Chapel services

Worship services in the Chapel of the Sermon on the Mount bring the community together two times a week regularly. Services can include preaching, intercessory prayer, music, drama and communion. Students at a distance can join chapel services remotely.

Prayer services

Each semester, various prayer services are scheduled for students, faculty and staff to join. Often these services are held in the smaller Chapel of the Word in Waltner Hall. These may include:

Spiritual Formation Program

Courses, seminars, retreats and spiritual guidance help students develop disciplines for growing in faith. These resources nurture awareness of God's presence and give guidance in to the ministry and mission experience of the student.

Spiritual retreats

Spiritual retreats focus on disciplines for spiritual life, various ways of praying, and new avenues for experiencing God at work. Several retreats are offered each semester and are coordinated by the Campus Ministries Team.

The Pilgrim’s Way

A labyrinth in the meadow on the AMBS campus provides outdoor space for reflection and prayer.

Spiritual direction

Several AMBS faculty members, retired faculty members and trained spiritual directors are available to provide a mentoring relationship to students for nurturing greater awareness of God’s presence. Spiritual directors meet with students for a one-hour session approximately once each month during the school year. For more information, contact the Director of Campus Ministries.
